EBT is the card used to deliver SNAP and some cash benefits. What qualifies you for Lifeline isn't the card but the program behind it. If your EBT card carries SNAP, you qualify.
EBT card names by state
States brand their EBT cards differently: Golden State Advantage (California), Lone Star Card (Texas), Link (Illinois), Bridge Card (Michigan), ACCESS card (Pennsylvania), Ohio Direction Card, Independence Card (Maryland) and more. The name doesn't matter. The SNAP benefit does.

How do you get a free iPhone with EBT?
Lifeline is a federal program, created in 1985 and run by the FCC through the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), that lowers the cost of phone or internet service for low-income households. The benefit is a discount of up to $9.25 per month, or up to $34.25 on qualifying Tribal lands. Many wireless providers set their Lifeline plans so the discount covers the whole bill. That is how people end up with an iPhone and free monthly service.
Lifeline pays for service only. Handsets are an incentive from the provider, so what you get, from a basic Android to a discounted iPhone, depends on who you sign up with.

The National Verifier often confirms participation automatically. Upload proof only if asked. The document must show your name (or your dependent's), the program name, the issuing agency and a current date.
What are the full eligibility rules?
You qualify for Lifeline in one of two ways: someone in your household takes part in a qualifying assistance program, or your household income is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines.

- Federal Public Housing Assistance (including Section 8)
- Veterans Pension or Survivors Pension
On federally recognized Tribal lands, these also qualify: Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribally Administered TANF, Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), Tribal Head Start (income-qualified households).

How do you apply with EBT?

- Activate your phone or SIM Your phone or SIM ships in about a week. Activate it and use it at least once every 30 days so the service isn't cancelled for non-usage.
